2008 LA Car Show
The LA car show started this weekend and I had a chance to attend. We decided to go early on Saturday morning and we made a wise decision. The crowds were light in the morning, but by noon, the car show was filled with people. Regardless of the crowds, I would recommend going. With the economy in the dumps, its good to see some of the car makers focusing on alternative fuels. While BMW and Mercedes focused on new high efficient diesel engines, Honda was definitely the winner in the hydrogen arena.
The alternative fuel models were great to see, but nothing beats the old favorites.
In the custom section, this Porsche was a standout.

This custom Audi was a standout.

Here is a modified Lamborghini…very nice.

Here’s another Porsche…
One of the more mainstream favorites was this MB 550 CLK.

This MB SLR 550 coupe prototype car has some amazing doors and interior. Unlike standard Lambo doors which swing up, these actually opened more like a gull wing door.

Honda showcased their hydrogen concept car. It may not actually run, but it looks great.
Jaguar’s XF is the epitome of luxury. This is one beautiful car.

The Ferrari room was a bit disappointing. While this car was beautiful, the overall display lack excitement. Check out the spokes person in the background on her cell phone.

Austin Martin, what can you say…amazing.

Any car show wouldn’t be complete without booth babes. A few of the car makers understood the power of sex appeal. Many missed the mark completely. These two stood in the middle of the display and did nothing but smile once or twice. It worked, Lamborghini had a crowd of guys standing around giggling, smiling, and taking pictures. I took this one for you…not me.

Overall the car show was great. No better way for a couple of guys to spend a Saturday morning ogling over…cars.
